Arrived after long flight to a warm welcome.. Mixed fruit juice and cool flannels. Check in was quick and staff so helpful. Carried our suitcases up 2 flights of stairs. We requested top floor and they accomodated us to a tea. Room clean and air con a welcome from the heat. All inclusive meals was plentiful and big choice.. Was a little unsure after reading reviews but you'd be hard pushed not to find something you liked and chef will cook on request. The staff are amazing.. Absolutely amazing gem
We came here at the beginning of October.Where do I start, hotel was lovely we had a beautiful sea view room which was cleaned beautifully every day by Nihal.All the staff were amazing and took such good care of us.We used Amith (amithtourssrilanka.com) for our amazing trips around this beautiful country.Amith and his team including Bobbie our driver really made our holiday so special and they all took such good care of us. We did a day trip down to Galle and an overnight trip to Sygria Kandy and the amazing train ride into little England. more..
Fabulous holiday
My Husband and I stayed in the hotel in May, my first time holidaying in Sri Lanka we had a awesome time the waiting and bar staff are friendly and were always smiling, big shout out to Captain and Cheeky Chappie. The rooms were clean and the food for an all inclusive was nice. The icing on the cake was meeting Amith from Amith tours, he is readily available on the beach a helpful and knowledgeable beach boy who we found was cheaper than our tour company. more..
Awesome Visit
I could be on as long as my holiday writing a revieiw for this place, so i will keep to the things that impreseed most. value for money was amazing this was the chepest hotel we could find and was cheper than hotels ofering only bed and breakfast. Sri lanker its self is breathtaking and everybody we met in the hotel and beyond went out of there way to make us welcome. The food was the best ive ever had abroud and thats coming from a chef. The restraunt service was good as a whole but the presance of a waiter know as cheecky chappie elevated that to dizzy hights his charimsa blew us away and left us in fits of laughter most meal times. 2 week all inclusive stay for my wife and I.
Having just returned from a relaxing two weeks at Hotel Mermaid we want to thank and congratulate all the staff for providing an enjoyable holiday. This medium sized hotel is friendly and welcoming. The standard rooms are spacious, clean,comfortable and well equipped. The newly refurbished bathrooms are of a high standard with a large walk in shower. The air con is efficient, quiet and adjustable and each room is provided with a plug in mosquito machine which is replenished with insecticide every evening. more..
Rest & Relaxation
This was once more a return visit to The Mermaid in Sri Lanka, the renovated rooms are very spacious with a beautiful shower room, unfortunately the bedrooms lack draw space although there is ample room for a chest of drawers. There is plenty of choice regarding food which was always well presented plenty of curries, salads, soups for even the fussiest of eaters to choose from and if there is nothing there you fancy the chefs will always try and oblige you by preparing something else . The staff are all very pleasant with nothing being to much trouble for them, there are far too many to name individually so a very big thank you to you all for making our stay so relaxing and enjoyable. more..
A Very Relaxing Holiday
Amazing stay here. The staff are beautiful and polite and always make sure you have what you need. Chala was our tour guide and organized fantastic trips for us at a good price, totally recommend him. The chefs are excellent and "Amith" is the best cocktail maker! more..
Amazing stay
We have stayed for 10 days and had all inclusive package. We received nice welcome and also have been invited for welcome drink later that day, where you can meet with new guests, which was very nice idea. Hotel is very calm and lovely, on the beach. Rooms are little bit dated, but we didn't mind at all, as hotel is very clean and tidy. I wouldn't rate the hotel as 3*, but definitely 4*. Meals were very nice, wide range of salads, soups, mains. There was always something to choose from, very nice desserts as well. Staff very kind, helpful and always smiling :). more..
Peaceful place
We have travelled a lot all over the world, and found the whole experience of Sri Lanka a good one. We travelled around the Island with a tour guide we found on the beach at the Mermaid Hotel Amith Tours... One of the Best holidays we have ever had x
We spent 2 weeks at the Mermaid and had a fantastic time , great beachfront location ,superb food and good selection of drinks ,clean rooms with a very comfortable bed , kind and polite staff who always smiled and could not do enough . We did some tours with our holiday company, but mainly used Amith on the beach , who offered good value trips with excellent local knowledge , I recommend this guy he is very trustworthy and he delivered whatever we asked . more..
Fantastic holiday
It was our first time in Sri Lanka and we are already planning our next visit! The hotel was lovely and the people were amazing, they would do anything to make your stay better and always had an hello and a smile for you, we went on a tour with amith off the beach, great value and brilliant day, even met his family which were all so welcoming and friendly, so if you want to go on a tour please consider amith, lovely man! Beautiful country, beautiful people, 5 star service
Did some tours with one of the beach boys named Amith who was excellent not a bit pushy and arranged the tours to suit what we wanted to do and see. Had some massages with the hotel and felt really pampered. We also had some massages with Sidney who is located just outside the hotel grounds (beach side) he is also excellent. Everyone staying at hotel seemed to mix well together young and old as the hotel isn't very large everyone gets to know each other. It was like one big happy family. Would definitely recommend this hotel. more..
